This Refund and Returns Policy applies to all purchases, rentals, and transactions made through www.industrialcompanies.co.za (“the Website”) operated by Industrial Containers SA (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This policy is written to comply with South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA) requirements and Google Merchant Centre and Google Shopping policies regarding transparency, fairness, and clarity for customers.

By purchasing or hiring a container from us, you agree to the terms outlined below.


1. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to:

  • New shipping containers
  • Used shipping containers
  • Modified containers (including site offices, dangerous goods units, gas cylinder storage, etc.)
  • Container rentals / hires
  • Custom-built or customized containers

2. Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period – CPA Compliance)

In accordance with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA), you have the right to cancel your order within 5 business days after placing an order only if:

  • The container has not yet been delivered, and
  • The container is not a custom-built or modified unit.

If you cancel within this period, you will receive a full refund, minus any reasonable administrative or processing fees where applicable.


3. Refund Policy – Purchases

3.1 New Containers

Refunds for new containers will only be considered if:

  • The container is defective or not as described, and
  • The issue is reported within 48 hours of delivery, and
  • The container has not been modified, used, or tampered with.

If approved, we will either:

  • Replace the container, or
  • Issue a refund after inspection.

3.2 Used Containers

Used containers are sold “as-is”, with clear disclosure that they may have dents, rust patches, or signs of wear.

Refunds for used containers will only be considered if:

  • The container is not wind and watertight, or
  • There is a significant structural defect that was not disclosed before purchase.

Minor cosmetic issues do not qualify for refunds.


4. Custom or Modified Containers (No Refunds)

No refunds will be issued for:

  • Custom-built containers
  • Modified containers (e.g., site offices, dangerous goods units, gas cylinder units, side openings, etc.)
  • Containers painted in a custom color
  • Containers built to client specifications

These orders are considered final once manufacturing or modification has commenced.


5. Delivery Issues & Damages

If your container is damaged during delivery:

  • You must report the damage immediately upon delivery (same day).
  • Photographic evidence must be provided.
  • If damage is confirmed, we will arrange a replacement or repair at our discretion.

If you accept delivery without reporting damage, the container will be deemed accepted in its delivered condition.


6. Rental / Hire Refund Policy

For container rentals:

  • A deposit is required before delivery.
  • If you cancel your rental before delivery, your deposit may be refunded minus reasonable administrative costs.
  • If the container has already been delivered, the rental deposit is non-refundable.
  • No refunds are provided for unused rental periods.

7. Refund Processing Time

Approved refunds will be processed within 7–14 business days, depending on your payment method.

Refunds will be issued via the original payment method used.


8. How to Request a Refund or Return

9. Compliance with Google Merchant Centre

To comply with Google Merchant Centre policies, we confirm that:

  • Refund and return conditions are transparent and non-misleading
  • Customers are informed of non-refundable items (custom builds/modifications)
  • Delivery and damage reporting procedures are clearly stated
  • Contact details are provided for customer support
